Jordan Harris Fundraiser Tournament

Florida Soccer Club and the U17 team will be hosting an end of season tournament the weekend of February 11-12, 2012 to benefit Jordan Harris who is battling brain cancer.

Jordan was diagnosed in April 2011 with a rare stage 4 brain cancer called sPNET (Supratentorial Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumors). He had surgery to remove the 8cm X 8cm tumor from his brain on 4/14/11.

Thank God they were able to remove the entire tumor and after a spinal MRI, spinal tap and bone scan it was determined that it had not spread. He began radiation treatment in the middle of May. He went to Moffitt 5 days per week for radiation of his total brain and spine for 6 weeks. He recently completed 6 months of receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatment at All Children’s Hospital where he was hospitalized 4 days a month to receive 3 different chemotherapy drugs.

He now will begin an additional 6 months of an oral chemotherapy drug.

Sign Up for the 2012 Tampa Bay President’s Day Soccer Tournament

The 6th Annual Tampa Bay President’s Day Classic Soccer Tournament is open to all USSF affiliated teams,
Boys (U9 –U19) and Girls (U9 – U19) COMPETITIVE “B” LEVEL and PREMIER “A” LEVEL tournament teams are welcome.
The tournament will be held February 18- 19, 2012. Teams will compete at the 301 Youth Sports Complex and other local soccer complexes.

U9 and U10 teams will play in a 6v6 format and may carry up to 12 players on their roster.
U-11 and U12 teams will play in an 8v8 format and may carry up to 14 players.
U13 to U-19 teams may carry 18 players on their rosters and will play in a full-sided format.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

Each team will have a minimum of three (3) games in their pool play.

GUEST PLAYERS:

Teams may include up to four guest players.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Entry deadline is February 1st.
Fees are $395 for U9/U10 teams, $495 for U11/U12 teams and $595 for all teams U15+

We are part of Tampa Soccer Alliance which includes Florida Soccer Club and FC Tampa. When this was formed over a year ago we formed a partnership with the professional club Rangers FC from Glasgow and we are one of the US Affiliates. What that means is we have access to send players and coaches over to Glasgow training and tournaments and in return they will send Coaches to us. Well, that time has come and we have scheduled an event specifically for you the coaches and our players. Its really important everyone participate and show support for this weekend event. The goal is to learn from the professional coaches technics that can be applied in our weekly training sessions. This is a FREE event sponsored by the Alliance so take advantage. Attached is a promo flyer. Share it with your players, assistant coaches and team managers. We want all clubs under the Alliance to travel to each of the sessions. Below is an outline of the weekend events. Friday night is for coaches only, training sessions is for coaches and players. If any questions let me know and please start spreading the word this week.

Former Club President passes away

Sandi J. Hamilton, 53, of Temple Terrace passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Sandi was a 1976 graduate of Hillsborough High School; she attended the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. She was Co-Founder of Leisure Travel; served as Registrar, Board of Directors and President of Temple Terrace Soccer Association; was a member of Temple Terrace Junior Chamber of Commerce; and a member of The First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace. Preceded in death by her mother, Betty J. Swope. Survivors include her loving husband, John R. Hamilton; children, Travis Clay, Kaeley Noele and Madison Leigh Hamilton; father, S. Morris Swope; brothers, Keith Michael and Dale Martin Swope. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace with interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace, 10002 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL 33617; the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org); or to the Madison Leigh Hamilton Scholarship Fund. Registration dates:

Saturday, August 20th from 9am to 12 noon
Saturday, August 27th from 9am to 12 noon
Saturday, September 10th from 9am to 12 noon
Registration is open to all children ages 4 – 15 years

Cost:

U5 – U8 $95.00 (ages 4-7)
U10 $130.00 (ages 8-9)
U12 – U16 $145.00 (ages 10-15)

Fee includes jersey, shorts, and socks
New players need to leave a copy of a birth certificate at registration
All players must have a current outdoor pass or total annual membership throughout the season from the City of Temple Terrace Parks and Rec.

Practices will begin the week of October 3rd.
There will be one practice per week for all teams.
Games will begin on Saturday, November 5th and run through February.
TTSA welcomes players from the entire Tampa Bay Area (Brandon, New Tampa, Carrollwood, Wesley Chapel….)
